Lisa Osofsky begins tenure as SFO Director

Lisa Osofsky’s five year term as Director of the Serious Fraud Office begins today, 28 August 2018. Her appointment was announced by the then Attorney General, Jeremy Wright QC MP, on 4 June. Her start date was subsequently brought forward from 3 September.
Mark Thompson, who served as Interim Director from the end of April until yesterday, returns to his substantive post as Chief Operating Officer.
Responding to the announcement of her appointment Lisa Osofsky said:

Former Interim Director Mark Thompson said:
“Lisa has had a distinguished international career focusing on financial crime in both law enforcement and private sector roles.
“I would like to welcome Lisa to the SFO and look forward to working with her as the next Director.”
Lisa joins the Serious Fraud Office from compliance firm Exiger, where she was a Managing Director, Regional Leader and Head of Investigations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to this, Lisa worked as a US federal prosecutor pursuing a range of white collar crime prosecuting over 100 cases for the US government.
