New senior appointments: Chief Intelligence Officer and Head of Corporate Services

Following an open competition, the SFO has appointed two new members to its senior management team.

Chief Intelligence Officer: John Kielty

John Kielty joined the SFO in 2015 as a Case Controller. Prior to that he had a distinguished police career with the Metropolitan Police where he was a Detective Chief Superintendent.

He has headed the Met’s Serious and Organised Crime Command and has extensive experience of leading proactive intelligence led operations, including the Flying Squad and teams dealing with kidnapping, human trafficking and prison corruption.

John has already taken up his new role, in which he will lead the intelligence unit to strengthen its relationships with partner agencies and the sophistication of its strategies to identify new cases and corroborate information.

John Kielty said:

I am excited to be assigned the role of Chief Intelligence Officer.  The creation of the CIO role is part of the SFO’s continuing effort to develop its response to tackling serious economic crime.  Working with partners we will seek to utilise a range of law enforcement techniques, enhancing how we tackle those engaged in criminality linked to serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption.

 

Head of Corporate Services: Liz Corrin

Liz Corrin will be joining the SFO on 1 April. She will act as Chief Financial Officer and oversee the finance, human resources, procurement and facilities management functions.

Liz joins from the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA), where she was Corporate Services Director.

Previously, at the Department of Transport, she established the Network Rail Sponsor function following Network Rail’s reclassification to the public sector. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Director, Finance at HM Treasury for a number of years and has developed strong links within the wider finance profession across UK Government.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, her early career was in audit and assurance in the Big Four and mid-tier firms where she specialised in services to regulated businesses.

Liz Corrin said:

I’m looking forward to joining the SFO and working with the corporate services teams to support all of our front-line activities in tackling the top level of serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption.

 

My experience in a working across the public and private sector, driving compliance and a developing strong assurance regimes, stands me in good stead; and I’m keen to make SFO an exemplar of best practice in these fields.
